Te Kuiti Kindergarten

Today we performed at Te Kuiti Kindergarten, it was great to see lots of parents come along. They have the coolest sandpit as well as lots of fun staff and we stopped in town to check out the huge statue
We will be performing a great 30 minute show at Auckland Zoo to open the memorial event for Kashin the Elephant this Sunday at 10am (Aug 30th). Admission to the Zoo is FREE for everyone this day, with official speeches around 1pm and entertainment until 5pm. Come along and make it a happy occasion, just the way Kashin would have wanted it!

TV3's Big Night In

Hi everyone! We are performing LIVE on TV3's 'Big Night In'! If you're an early-bird riser, you can spot us at 6.45am on Sunday August 9th.
This past four weeks has seen us perform at many places such as Elim Christian Kindergarten, Matiere School, Centrestage Theatre in Orewa, Weston Kindergarten and the Special Children’s Christmas Party in New Plymouth, Cambridge Early Learning Centre, Centreplace Hamilton, Great Lake Centre in Taupo, Frimley School Fundraiser in Hastings, Russell Birdman - Russell, Far North Community Centre in Kaitaia, Riverbank Theatre in Whangarei, Rose Theatre in Belmomt, Hawera Memorial Theatre, Exult Fundraiser in Tauranga, Rototuna Early Education in Hamilton and the Kiddywinks Kindergarten at Manurewa Baptist Church.

We have met lots of Children and want to thank all the parents for coming along and supporting what we do, we appreciate it!
It's been a busy few weeks for us, we have performed our first theatre shows in Levin and Wanganui. We also performed at Whitiora Kindergarten and were treated to a fabulous performance from the children after our show. Great Singing Kids! We had a packed show at ABC Te Rapa and it was fantastic to have lots of parents come along and join in with all the fun.

Fun at Waipukurau!

We have been busy with shows in Feilding, Waipukurau and Masterton. This weekend we will be in Wanganui and Levin.

Our Friends at life Church!

We had a fantastic time with our long-time friends at Life Church in Hamilton today. When we sang the Bubbles song everyone ran on stage trying to pop them! Thanks for having us back for our fourth year in a row everyone. See you next year!

Who knows where Papamoa is?

We do! It's where our good friends from Bright Beginnings Childcare live.

On Wednesday we got to perform a great half hour show for 100 cool kids and grown ups. The picture is of our friend Remy trying to tell a story to a group waiting for their bus.

Joe is trying to distract them! Neil is nearly better and will be with us at shows in no time. Get well Neil!

Our friend James

We had a fantastic time performing a special show for our friend James recently! James had made a wish to some of our great friends at the Make-a-Wish foundation. He wished for a trampoline and a tree house. He got both, AND a special concert from his friends The Funky Monkeys! We invited our good friend Remy along to perform in the show because poor Neil wasn't feeling very well that day! Thanks James, and thanks Make-a-Wish, we had a great time!
We had a busy weekend, performing our Theatre show in Thames, Matamata and the North Shore. Thanks parents for bringing your children along and supporting our music.

Giant Kiwi

Today we had a nice drive to Otorohanga to perform at Hopscotch Pre School. Check out the Giant Kiwi we saw. Imagine if Kiwi's were that big!
Today we performed at the Central Baptist Childcare in Hamilton. It's the 3rd time we have been there and it was really cool to see the great staff again and the awesome bunch of children who are fantastic singers and dancers. Tomorrow we are going to Otorohanga. Mon 25th May

Our Friend Peter

The Make a Wish Foundation creates hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses around the world. They contacted us and asked us if we would help make a wish come true for their friend Peter.

Peter's wish was to have a new playground and to have The Funky Monkeys visit and perform at his party and we all thought performing at his show sounded like a great idea. sounded like a great idea.

We had a really fun time meeting Peter and his family and friends. Here are some pictures from the day.

Theatre Show Dates

We have confirmed some more dates for our Theatre Shows. We are really excited with being able to take our show to towns that have never been able to see us in concert yet.

We are heading to Thames, Matamata, the North Shore, Fielding, Waipukurau, Masterton, Levin, Wanganui, Hawera, Kaitaia, Whangarei, Taupo and Orewa.

Kindy Kids- Hamilton

Here we are at the Hamilton Kindy Kids event. Kate pictured with her friend brought along a cool monkey Mo and he was wearing a cool Funky Monkey costume. Lots and lots of people came along to the show and joined in all the fun.

Mish Mash Easter Picnic- Hamilton Lake

Our friends Ken and Bailey from the Mish Mash kids show on TV Central, asked us to come along to the Hamilton Lake to join in all the fun at their Easter Picnic. We had a fantastic time and it seemed like most of Hamilton also turned up!

Royal Easter Show - Auckland

We have just spent the last 5 days at Auckland's Royal Easter Show. We performed 15 shows in the Logan Campbell Centre to over 25,000 people. We were really excited to be able to perform at the Easter Show and we had a great time performing our brand new world buddies song.

The Running of the Sheep, Te Kuiti!

Today we performed in Te Kuiti for the first time, thanks everyone for making us feel welcome, we had a really fun day.

Balloons Over Waikato

Here we are with our friend Monique at Balloons over Waikato. Thanks to everyone who came along to see our show and thanks to our best friend Brenz for joining us on stage. We really liked seeing the balloons all lit up at the end of the night and the fireworks were incredible.

Hamilton Zoo

Thanks to everyone who came along to see our shows at the Zoo today. We really like doing shows at the Hamilton Zoo and there are lots of interesting animals to look at. Here's a picture of a funny chap we met enjoying the sun. Every time we go to the Hamilton Zoo something funny always happens and today when we arrived to set up the show, we noticed something really funny. There was 3 peacocks sitting up in the tree over the stage and compared to the sparrows in the tree they looked really, really, really big. They looked like giant birds!

Unitec Family Fun Day

This event was all about fun. There was so much to do and we can tell you we had lots of fun. Our favourite Pirate was there and our friend cookie the clown was really funny. Thanks Unitec for organising a great day. (Saturday 21st)

A hat made from balloons!

Joe was given a really tall hat made from lots and lots of balloons at the Titirangi Music Festival.

Thanks, Hamilton West School

We had a great time performing at your School last night. We all agreed that Hamilton West School children have a huge amount of energy and can sing really good. We also played musical statues and we can tell you they are really good dancers as well.

March 5th

Children"s Day- Raglan and Flagstaff (Hamilton)

We performed at two Children's Day events this year. The morning was spent performing at the beach in Raglan for the Maui Dolphin Day and in the afternoon we headed along to Flagstaff for the Discovery Park Children's Day.

Children's Day – Te Rā O Te Tamariki – provides New Zealanders with an opportunity to give time to children and take part in fun activities that start new traditions as well as continue old ones.

Children's Day has five important messages:

Giving time, Praise and encouragement, Listening and talking, Love and affection, New experiences,

This year's key theme is ‘listening and talking'.

Teddy Bears Picnic - Hamilton

The Funky Monkeys get to perform at many of the Teddy Bear Picnics around New Zealand, today it was Hamilton's turn.

We get to meet lots of cuddly teddy bears and we always enjoy seeing all the children turn up with their little friendly friends, even some of the Hamilton mums and dads brought their teddy bears.

Well done to the Hamilton Parent Centre for putting together the really fun day.

Hazel's Funky Monkeys tribute

Family Fun Race Day - Awapuni Racecourse - Palmerston North

Check out the funny picture of us, performing at the races in Palmerston North! It's the 2nd verse of the country song and we are pretending to milk cows. Joe looks really funny!

After our show we ran a fun skipping challenge and managed to get ten people skipping at once. Well done to all the skippers!

Wellington Teddy Bears Picnic!

Thanks to the thousands of teddy bears watching our shows at "Teddy Bears Picnic and to all the children who looked after them, making sure they had a great day. We performed with our best friend Brenz and he was really excited to be able to meet one of his favourite bands "The Popsicle Band".

Hunters Plaza - Papatoetoe

You can catch us performing free shows at Hunters Plaza, everyday from Monday 26th Jan to Saturday 31st Jan. Shows start at 12.30pm and finish at 1.15pm.

Picton Maritime Festival

There was lots and lots to do at this fun festival in Picton, If you didn't make it this year, then make sure you get along next year, it's a day not to be missed.

We really liked all the cool pirate costumes, the fun treasure hunt and the pirate band. Thanks Pauline for looking after us and to the people of Picton, thanks for making us feel very welcome. As you can see from the picture it's a very beautiful town.

The Funky Monkeys at Rainbows End!

We have been performing shows everyday this month at Rainbows End, It's a really exciting place to spend a day and we have been having a great time. Here we are with some of our friends from Rainbows End. A huge hello to Aimee, Esther and Horace Horatio the Hare!

Fun at the Races- Trentham- Wellington

Here we are with Brenz Monkey. We also caught up with this funny chap at the Races at Trentham. If you think he has three eyes and funny teeth, no it is indeed Face Paint.

Splash Planet- Hastings!

We got to spend the day at Splash Planet, it's a very fun place with lots and lots of cool things to do. Our best friend Brenz Monkey came along and he couldn't believe how big the water slides are. They are amazing!

A special highlight for Dizzy Dog was meeting and dancing with Squirt from Splash Planet, they performed the chicken dance together during our show. We think Dancing with the Stars should give them a call.

Teddy Bears Picnic- New Plymouth!

We have just had a fantastic day in New Plymouth performing to over 1000 children, their families and their teddy bears at the TSB stadium. Dizzy Dog commented that he would like to come back and do some more shows, so hopefully you will see us back in Taranaki soon.
