We have met lots of Children and want to thank all the parents for coming along and supporting what we do, we appreciate it!

It's been a busy few weeks for us, we have performed our first theatre shows in Levin and Wanganui. We also performed at Whitiora Kindergarten and were treated to a fabulous performance from the children after our show. Great Singing Kids! We had a packed show at ABC Te Rapa and it was fantastic to have lots of parents come along and join in with all the fun.

On Wednesday we got to perform a great half hour show for 100 cool kids and grown ups. The picture is of our friend Remy trying to tell a story to a group waiting for their bus.

We had a fantastic time performing a special show for our friend James recently! James had made a wish to some of our great friends at the Make-a-Wish foundation. He wished for a trampoline and a tree house. He got both, AND a special concert from his friends The Funky Monkeys! We invited our good friend Remy along to perform in the show because poor Neil wasn't feeling very well that day! Thanks James, and thanks Make-a-Wish, we had a great time!

Our Friend Peter

The Make a Wish Foundation creates hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses around the world. They contacted us and asked us if we would help make a wish come true for their friend Peter.

Peter's wish was to have a new playground and to have The Funky Monkeys visit and perform at his party and we all thought performing at his show sounded like a great idea. sounded like a great idea.

We had a really fun time meeting Peter and his family and friends. Here are some pictures from the day.

Hamilton Zoo

Thanks to everyone who came along to see our shows at the Zoo today. We really like doing shows at the Hamilton Zoo and there are lots of interesting animals to look at. Here's a picture of a funny chap we met enjoying the sun. Every time we go to the Hamilton Zoo something funny always happens and today when we arrived to set up the show, we noticed something really funny. There was 3 peacocks sitting up in the tree over the stage and compared to the sparrows in the tree they looked really, really, really big. They looked like giant birds!

Children"s Day- Raglan and Flagstaff (Hamilton)

We performed at two Children's Day events this year. The morning was spent performing at the beach in Raglan for the Maui Dolphin Day and in the afternoon we headed along to Flagstaff for the Discovery Park Children's Day.

Children's Day – Te Rā O Te Tamariki – provides New Zealanders with an opportunity to give time to children and take part in fun activities that start new traditions as well as continue old ones.

Children's Day has five important messages:

Giving time, Praise and encouragement, Listening and talking, Love and affection, New experiences,

This year's key theme is ‘listening and talking'.

Teddy Bears Picnic - Hamilton

The Funky Monkeys get to perform at many of the Teddy Bear Picnics around New Zealand, today it was Hamilton's turn.

We get to meet lots of cuddly teddy bears and we always enjoy seeing all the children turn up with their little friendly friends, even some of the Hamilton mums and dads brought their teddy bears.

Well done to the Hamilton Parent Centre for putting together the really fun day.

Picton Maritime Festival

There was lots and lots to do at this fun festival in Picton, If you didn't make it this year, then make sure you get along next year, it's a day not to be missed.

We really liked all the cool pirate costumes, the fun treasure hunt and the pirate band. Thanks Pauline for looking after us and to the people of Picton, thanks for making us feel very welcome. As you can see from the picture it's a very beautiful town.

Splash Planet- Hastings!

We got to spend the day at Splash Planet, it's a very fun place with lots and lots of cool things to do. Our best friend Brenz Monkey came along and he couldn't believe how big the water slides are. They are amazing!

A special highlight for Dizzy Dog was meeting and dancing with Squirt from Splash Planet, they performed the chicken dance together during our show. We think Dancing with the Stars should give them a call.

We all agreed that people of Cambridge really know how to have a fun time. It was really cool to see thousands of people joining in singing and dancing along to our songs. Great work everyone, Top of the class!

Our Visit to Kidz First Children's Hospital

Here we are at Middlemore Hospital to check out the 25 christmas trees made by local Schools to be distributed across the hospital. We sang our 'Christmas in the Summertime' song as well as a few other christmas favourites.

We also made a special visit with our friend Joe Rokocoko to the Kidz First children's hospital. It's not an easy time being in hospital particuarly during the christmas period so we hope we were able to help spread a bit of monkey fun throughout Kidz First.

David Beckham's Training Session!

We performed to over 6,500 excited David Beckham fans from 130 Schools at his LA Galaxy football training at the Mt Smart Stadium. It was an incredible day and to see thousands of people in the stadium join in with all The Funky Monkeys antics was a sight to see.

This week we have also performed at Belmont Kindercare, Greenlane Lollipops and Superstart pre School.

Chris also paid a special visit to Goodwood School as a guest judge for their talent night. He saw performances from some very talented pupils and really enjoyed seeing others get up on stage and "Give it a Go". Well Done Everyone! (thursday 4th Dec)

It's been another busy week for The Funky Monkeys!

We have been performing at the Aotea Centre for The Edge School Shows, it happens over 8 days and during that time over 2400 children come along and enjoy the show. Dizzy has been using his particimeter to make sure everyone is participating and we can tell you for sure, they have been. We have also performed at the Porse christmas party in Grey Lynn and Puffing Billy Day Care. Over a thousand students at our show at Papatoetoe Central School danced, sang and clapped along. A huge Hi from The Funky Monkeys to everyone at Papatoetoe Central School - Great Singing!

Hello Cambridge!

This week we had some great shows in Cambridge, we performed shows at the Cambridge Early Centre, Leamington Kindergarten and Cambridge East primary School. We had a little bit of time between shows to relax and check out the amazing trees around town. It's incredible how big some of those trees are and to think once upon a time they would have been small seeds. Amazing!

Happy Birthday Kashin!

Kashin the elephant lives at Auckland Zoo and today we got invited to perform at her 40th birthday party. Kashin looked very pretty and was painted in a traditional Thai style that symbolises a celebration.

After our show we were able to spend time with Kashin and Burma, we even got to feed them sultanas from our hands, which was really cool, their trunks felt like giant vacuum cleaners.

A huge big thank you to Zoo staff for letting us have the special visit!

About Kashin

She arrived at Auckland Zoo in 1972 on a jumbo jet aged four years

her name comes from an ASB naming competition ("cash-in") and she is the elephant on the ASB money boxes

Kashin weighs approximately 3.6 tonne

she loves food, people (especially her keepers), praise and attention

she's not such a big fan of exercise these days, but does love swimming in her pool

The Royal NZ Show Christchurch!

Our time in Christchurch at the Royal NZ Show was a very busy time for us. We performed 9 shows, gave thousands of badges away, signed lots and lots of collectors cards and met thousands of people. The weather was fantastic! We didn't know what to look at first, there was so much to do! Check out the photo's Dizzy took, he even took one of himself!

Manawatu Show

We had two really fun days performing at the Manawatu Show in Fielding. Check out some of the pictures we took. They had lots and lots of animals there including pigs, really big cats, emu, dogs, cows, ducks, sheep, alpacas and our favourite was the funny donkey that made a lot of noise.

We had a fantastic time at the Oscar conferance held in Auckland this weekend. Here we are with our friends from the Western Community Centre. Thanks to all those who came along to our music workshop at the conferance. Lot's of Fun!

The Funky Monkeys at Rainbows End!

We have been performing shows at Rainbows End these school holidays. It's been lots of fun performing every day at 12.00pm and 2.15pm. If you are looking for something to do, then come along to Rainbows End and join in on all the fun.

We have been meeting lots of new friends, today we met Jamie who came all the way from Invercargill. We also had our very good friend Brenz Monkey join us, he is really good at "Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes", especially during the fast bit.

PS - Dizzy Dog has been waking up very early every morning with his bags packed ready to go. He gets very excited and loves going to Rainbows End.

The Special Children's Extravaganza in Napier!

We just spent the afternoon with 2000 amazing kids and their families in Napier!

We have performed at events like this for the last 5 years, and every year we enjoy being able to meet new friends.

The coolest thing about these particular events is that everyone who is invited to the party can take a giant bag of free toys home with them.

Some very cool people turn up like our good friend Pikachu, who thought that posing for a photo was lots of fun.
